My Professional path, the path of Sente                  

I come from a family of entrepreneurs. My grandfather had two workshops and a shipyard, and I spent a lot of time playing in their premises and walking around them as I was a very young boy. At that age I was not yet working, but the environment fascinated me. I was interested in what was being built. Still, I was the most interested in how the company functioned. I.e. how an organization was built and how it fulfilled its purpose. Later this interest got me into studying industrial management. In industrial management I had found a home for my professional enthusiasm.

When studying Industrial Management, I got introduced to the concepts of real process and financial process and how they make the companies tick. I soon got the perception that the theory was lacking something i.e. the context. This context is the legal framework on which the companies run. This perception got me into studying law. I concentrated on business law and completed my second master’s degree with the same passion as the first one.

Half of my career I have worked for oil and gas. This has been mostly in different kinds of EPCI projects for floating offshore drilling and production units. I had multiple roles from specialist to management and from drilling to finance. Oil and gas is a fascinating field of business due to its demanding and truly international environment of megaprojects.

The other half of my career is in Finnish industry of machine building and shipbuilding. After my Bachelor’s degree, I have mostly been working in management. Before that I had a decade of different summer jobs in production and functions supporting it. I started my career before I turned fifteen.  Currently I am a director responsible for business development and international sales. I am also a minority shareholder in a couple of companies and a member of board of directors. I have my own consulting company “Sente” which homepage you are now visiting. 

I have a set of skills to excel in various assignments. I speak Finnish, English, German and Russian. I have a true understanding of the international business environment and cultural sensitivity built on almost 6 years of living abroad for work and study.

My love for companies and their businesses is a never-ending story. I am happy to help You and Your business with strategic and operational activities and development. I provide support in international and domestic projects as a consulting sparring partner or active resource.

Beyond the professional path                     

I am a proud father of three children and a husband to wonderful Mrs. Lehtinen. A great share of my free time is spent with the family and activities of my children. Life is work but there is more to life than work. 

People have known me as an enthusiastic practitioner of martial arts since I was a child. Martial arts seem to be a lifelong story for me. I also do other sports and contribute to local sport clubs and other associations when my schedule allows me to.
